ECM Motor Repair

Generally speaking these ECM motors have a history of unhappy customers. We were approached by an HVAC contractor to investigate these motors because of the high failure rate even under warranty to find out what is causing the premature failures. Looked at 6 motors, 2 had bad electronics, and 4 had bad motors. Because we are a motor shop, we fixed the shorted windings to the way they should have been done originally..
The motor design and function on these motors are actually pretty good, they were just not assembled well.
Our services on these motors are to fix the winding problems, install new bearings, and replace the In Rush Current Protector, on the control board, that frequently fails due to the motor problems mentioned.
This accounts for about a 70% to 80% sucess rate with these motors. If a motor is beyond these repairs, we will let you know it is time to purchase a new replacement motor from Genteq. However if you do purchase a new motor, we recommend having Eurton reconnect, solder, and insulate it properly so you won't have problems with your new motor failing prematurely.

Be sure to pack your motor well and ship it to us. UPS or FedEx Ground are the most popular for motors under 100 pounds. Motors over 100 pounds can be shipped by carrier of your choice.
Insure your shipment. Please insure your package for the full value of your motor. Eurton Electric is not responsible for motors lost or damaged in shipping to our shop.

Occasionally, a motor may be beyond repair or rewinding. When this occurs we will notify you with this information before any action is taken, and wait for your instructions. Shipping a motor back to you is an additional charge.
